Botox finally has a bit of competition. It’s called Dysport, and it’s the latest in helping us achieve a fresh, younger look.
What is Dysport?
Dysport is a protein extracted from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
How is Dysport used?
Dysport is injected into the facial muscles underlying the frown lines, forehead lines or crow’s feet. It takes about 10 minutes to have a few quick injections. No anesthetic necessary.
What can Dysport do for you?
Dysport temporarily relaxes your facial muscles. It creates a smooth surface on the skin, making wrinkles and frown lines less noticeable, if at all.
Who can benefit from Dysport?
Anyone who wants a fresh, relaxed and overall younger look.
What are the side effects of Dysport?
Side effects are not common, but they can happen. The most common side effect is a slight headache that can last for several hours after a treatment. In a very small percentage of cases a minor complication called “ptosis” (a drooping eyelid) can occur. These side effects are identical to those of Botox.
Dysport, also known as Reloxin, has been used in main stream medicine for the last three decades. The most common medical applications for Dysport are for cervical dystonia, and cerebral palsy.
It is very safe and is said to not only last longer than Botox, but the results only need 1-3 days to take effect, whereas Botox can take up to 5-7 days. As for whether or not Dysport lasts longer than Botox, well, the jury is still out.
Even though Dysport is the newest FDA approved wrinkle treatment in the U.S., other countries have been using it for years. It has been approved in the United Kingdom since 1991.
The launch date for this great new product is coming very soon. Please call our office for more information on our Dysport Seminar that we will be hosting next month, and check our blog for the invitation. RSPV required and seating is limited, so hurry and reserve your spot!
